What happened

Pokemon.com announced Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration for Pokemon TCG Live, with an in-game arrival listed for September 15, 2026. The update gives players a Mew ex Battle Pass deck on login and a Sylveon ex deck to unlock through play, according to the announcement.

How it works

The anniversary content is spread across several systems. The announcement describes missions for collecting all 30 Pikachu rare cards and the full Classic Collection, with the mission feature planned to expand with future releases. It also describes a Battle Board with new audio and video plus limited day and night variants that change with local real-world time.

The 30th Celebration cards are scheduled to become legal for Play! Pokemon tournament play on September 25, 2026. The announcement specifically excludes the Classic Collection from that tournament rule, so the anniversary label does not mean every card shares the same status.

Why it matters

This is a systems refresh rather than a single cosmetic drop. One anniversary package touches collecting, progression, deck building, and the play surface at once, giving a mature live-service game several reasons to revisit the same event.

What we don’t know yet

The Pokémon Company describes the launch, deck, mission, Battle Board, and tournament details in its announcement. Event availability, reward behavior, and tournament rules can change, so the September 25 legality date and the Classic Collection exclusion should be checked against the current Play! Pokémon rules before competitive use.
